JUVÉDERM™ Ultra Plus injectable gel is a colorless hyaluronic acid gel that is injected into facial tissue to smooth wrinkles and folds, especially around the nose and mouth. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body. The role of hyaluronic acid in the skin is to deliver nutrients, hydrate the skin by holding in water, and to act as a cushioning agent.
What are the different types of wrinkles?
There are two different types of wrinkles:
- Dynamic wrinkles are caused when muscles contract to make facial expressions such as smiles and frowns.
- Static wrinkles develop because our skin’s natural substances (such as collagen and hyaluronic acid), which provide structure and volume, decrease over time.
What should I discuss with my doctor before getting treatment with JUVÉDERM®?
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a history of excessive scarring or pigmentation disorders. You should also discuss any medications that you are currently taking that can prolong bleeding, or therapy used to decrease the body’s immune response.
What makes JUVÉDERM® different from other dermal fillers?

How is JUVÉDERM® XC non-surgical filler used in treatment?
Your doctor injects JUVÉDERM® non-surgical filler into the skin using a fine needle to temporarily fill in the treatment area and smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles such as parentheses (smile) lines and marionette lines.
What will treatment with JUVÉDERM® non-surgical filler accomplish?
JUVÉDERM® non-surgical filler will help to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles around the nose and mouth such as parentheses (smile) lines. Results may last up to one year with optimal treatment.

Is treatment with JUVÉDERM® non-surgical filler painful?
Injections may cause some discomfort during and after the injection. JUVÉDERM® is formulated with lidocaine for a more comfortable treatment experience. We may choose to numb (anesthetize) the treatment area to further minimize discomfort.
How long does treatment usually take?
The injection process can be performed during a brief office visit. You’ll also need to allow time to consult with your doctor prior to treatment. Touch-up injections as well as repeat injections are usually needed to maintain optimal results. Less gel (about half the amount) is usually needed for repeat injections.
Does the correction last forever?

What are the possible side effects of JUVÉDERM® non-surgical filler?
Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature, and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injections site reaction such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. As with all skin injection procedures there is a risk of infection.
Can people with different skin tones/colors be treated with JUVÉDERM®?
Yes. In fact, JUVÉDERM® non-surgical filler has been studied in all skin types.
Can treatment with JUVÉDERM® and JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC be administered at the same time?
